Goodbye, Goodbye

I draw my eyes across the castle-top rock
I had to laugh when I realized what I saw
Like a vision, it brought time to stop
Do you remember our names carved in those rocks

Won’t you sit with me one more time
High above that Pennsylvania line
To the highest point we can climb
Like vines I’ll hold you tight

Kiss me lightly under heavy skies
I swear I’ll let you go, but not tonight
I’m too weak to be the one to say
Goodbye, goodbye

You’re so quiet, you’re so pale and pretty
I shake despite the fire you put in me
Would you believe that I can feel your heartbeat,
I know you’d laugh if you could see me

Kiss me lightly under heavy skies
I swear I’ll let you go, but not tonight
I’m too weak to be the one to say
Goodbye, goodbye

They called it resting, but I’m not convinced
I know your rest dear and this ain’t it
They said in memory you’d forever live
But I ain’t never had a memory as real as this

Kiss me lightly under heavy skies
I swear I’ll let you go, but not tonight
I’m too weak to be the one to say
Goodbye, goodbye
